NBC Buys Texas Mega Church Family Saga From Liz Heldens & David Janollari
Liz Heldens
is back at NBC with another hourlong project, tentatively titled Spring Hill. Produced by Universal TV and David Janollari’s studio-based David Janollari Entertainment, Spring Hill is a big family saga set against the backdrop of a Texas mega church. When the leader of the Spring Hill Congregation dies, the matriarch of the Strickland family rallies to keep the family together in a show about faith and family and all the complications that come with both.

CW Developing Military Drama With Nick Santora & Gary Fleder

is staying in the military arena withBoots (working title), a new hourlong project from Breakout Kings co-creator/executive producer Nick Santora and Gary Fleder. Written by Santora and to directed by Fleder, Boots is a serialized drama that follows young men and women from all over the country as they are thrown into the gauntlet that is the US Marine Corps Boot Camp on Parris Island, SC. As they inevitably collide with each other, their instructors and local townies, these recruits must overcome their pasts and in doing so build their futures. CBS TV Studios, where Santora is under an overall deal, produces, with Santora and Fleder exec producing.

Fox Adventure Drama From Sheldon Turner & Ken Nolan Searches For Atlantis
Fox has put in development Atlantis, a drama project written by feature writers Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air) and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down). The project, from Sony Pictures TV and Turner and Jennifer Klein’s studio-based Vendetta Prods, follows two estranged brothers, who — along with a ragtag crew and a billion dollar state-of-the-art vessel — begin a search for the lost city of Atlantis, discovering mysteries of the deep sea along the way.

Zooey Deschanel Producing Comedy Projects For Fox And NBC

and her producing partner, Rivka Sophia Rossi, have sold two projects under their first-look deal with 20th Century Fox TV. Fox’s Freelancers is from 20th TV and Deschanel and Rossi’s Miss Hawkins banner. Written by Mickey Rapkin, it centers on a disgraced and newly-single lawyer who, after getting fired from his corporate job, has to start over at age 30. He sets up shop at one of those modern, shared office spaces that are suddenly everywhere, where he’s forced to interact with a diverse group of oddball freelancers.

NBC’sAnd Lies I Tell My Daughter, from HelloGiggles and 20th, is based on the Hellogiggles column by Julia Obst. Written by Deb Schoeneman, it centers on an unconventional mom finds that honesty is not always the best policy when it comes to her new family.

‘Under The Dome’ EP Neal Baer Extends CBS TV Studios Deal, Sets CBS Project
Neal Baer
has signed a new two-year overall deal with CBS Television Studios. The early renewal will keep him and his Baer Bones production company at the studio through 2016. Baer will continue as executive producer/showrunner on CBS Studios’ CBS series Under The Dome while also developing new projects. He has sold drama The Three Behrs to CBS, with another sale pending. Written/executive produced by Baer and Dan Truly, The Three Behrscenters on three doctors, all strangers to each other, who are brought together at a prominent NYC hospital and learn that they’re brothers. Their recently deceased father was the legendary Chief of the hospital and posthumously wants his children to take it over and continue his legacy.


Josh Lieb Tapped As Producer Of ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’
FormerDaily Show executive producer/showrunner Josh Lieb is joining as producer, running day-to-day on Late Night and future Tonight Show, which are executive produced by Lorne Michaels. Lieb replaces veteran Late Night With Jimmy Fallon writer Amy Ozols, who will be leaving.

MTV’s ‘Generation Cryo’ Docu-Series Gets Premiere Date and Trailer
MTV is readying the launch of Generation Cryo. The new effort, which explores the issues faced by young people conceived through anonymous sperm donation, will launch on Monday, Nov. 25, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The six-episode, one-hour docu-series follows the journey of 17-year-old Breeanna, who recently learned that she and at least 15 half-siblings were fathered by the same sperm donor.


XBox Entertainment Greenlights First Unscripted Series: Global Street Soccer Show

has greenlighted its first unscripted series, Every Street United, from Mandalay Sports Media, the sports content and media company founded in 2012 by Peter Guber and Mike Tollin. Every 30-minute episode ofEvery Street United will be shot in a different country, turning its lens on the greatest undiscovered local street soccer players. Details are still being ironed out but I hear the idea is to have the top player profiled in each episode in a finale episode shot at the 2014 World Cup.


Ireland Ups Tax Incentive to 32% Beginning 2015
Ireland has redoubled its efforts to attract international film, TV and toon projects to its shores. The Irish government has upped its tax breaks for production to 32% beginning in 2015, and extended it to include talent from outside the European Union — including U.S. stars — for their work in Ireland, bringing it in line with the U.K. incentives.

Los Angeles Set to Waive Fees for TV Pilots
The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday passed an ordinance that will waive fees on TV pilots, in hopes of recapturing a greater share of production of one-hour drama series that depend heavily on location filming. A spokesman for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said that he would sign the measure, which is no surprise given that he introduced it along with Councilman Paul Krekorian last year. Their proposal also waived fees for the first year of pilots that are picked up for series.
