Fox Developing Event Series About Whitey Bulger’s Enforcer With Peter Facinelli Co-Starring & Michael De Luca Producing
Fox has put in developmentStreet Soldier, an event series that has Peter Facinelli attached to play a lead and executive produce and Michael De Luca to executive produce. Street Soldier chronicles the life of Eddie MacKenzie, a boxer and drug dealer, as an enforcer for Bulger and details how he was able to extricate himself from Whitey’s gang without getting himself killed. Larry Golin will write the script based on MacKenzie’s memoir.
A&E Developing Small-Town Drama From Jerry Bruckheimer TV
Jerry Bruckheimer Television is venturing into cable with a drama project at A&E. Written on spec by Ian Sobel and Matt Morgan, Harvest centers on a mild-mannered cemetery caretaker who finds his small-town life in jeopardy when his estranged criminal father forces him into the body-trade business. Bruckheimer TV and Warner Horizon TV are producing, with Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman executive producing, KristieAnne Reed co-executive producing and Sobel and Morgan serving as supervising producers.
‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradle’ Adaptation in the Works at ABC Family
ABC Family is in the early stages of developing an adaptation of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. The effort hails from Supernatural’s Daniel Loflin, who is set to write and executive produce, along with Radar Pictures. Radar’s Ted Field, an executive producer of the 1992 film on which the TV thriller is based, and Mike Weber are attached as executive producers. The ABC Family iteration will tell the story of a young, attractive nanny who terrorizes a suburban family from the inside.
‘666 Park Avenue’ Creator Sells Legal Thriller, Supernatural Western
David Wilcox is bulking up his drama output. Through his double-blind deal at Warner Bros. Television, the writer-producer sold hourlong projects at both ABC and The CW. The former, a legal thriller called Entrapment, tells the story of a star prosecutor accused of murder and the journey she takes when she turns to her former adversary, a streetwise defense attorney, for help with her defense. The latter is titled Badlands, and is being billed as a supernatural Western about a ruthless family cursed by vengeful ghosts. Entrapment received a put pilot commitment from ABC, with Wilcox attached to write and executive produce.
TNT Orders Period Cop Drama Pilot Penned By and Starring Ed Burns
Ed Burns now has sold the cabler a pilot for a retro cop drama which he will write, direct and star in. Public Morals, set in the NYPD’s Public Morals Division circa 1967, will follow cops as they walk the line between morality and criminality, facing the temptations that come from dealing with all kinds of vices. Burns will also serve as an executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Aaron Lubin.
CBS In Talks For ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Spinoff
“How I Met Your Mother” fans may not have to part ways with their beloved series at the end of this final season just yet. CBS is in discussions with 20th Century Fox TV for a spinoff of the comedy, which will offer a femme spin on the original show. Spinoff is from “HIMYM” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas along with Emily Spivey, and is being referred to as “How I Met Your Father.” Project would center on a group of friends living in Gotham, and one woman’s quest to meet her future husband. The concept is not tied to any of the current “HIMYM” characters.
Glee Mulling Full-Time Shift to ‘NYC’
Glee may soon be taking a bigger bite out of the Big Apple. Fox’s groundbreaking musical — which for the past year-plus has been splitting its focus between New York and Lima, Ohio — may shift the action entirely to the City That Never Sleeps as early as this season. It’s one of several ideas Fox is discussing with Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who have been forced to reexamine all aspects of the show in the wake of Cory Monteith’s tragic death in July.

Looks like there is another Presidential movie in DreamWorks’ future. The Lincoln studio announced today that it has picked up the rights to The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism. The book about the bitter rivalry between the two former friends and Presidents is the latest from Doris Kearns Goodwin. The bestselling historian’s Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln served partially as the basis for the studio’s Oscar winning 2012 film.

Zooey Deschanel and her Hello Giggles cohorts are expanding into film with Sister-In-Law, a comedy they’ve just sold to Good Universe. Sister-In-Law marks their first feature sale and will be scripted by Girls writer Sarah Heyward. Story follows a woman who meets her boyfriend’s family for the first time and must find a way to get along with her eccentric future sister-in-law.
Lionsgate Springs For Interracial Rom Com ‘I Own You’
Gary Anthony Williams and his writing partner Jeannie Roshar have sold their romantic comedy pitch I Own You to Lionsgate, with a story that centers on the comedic trials and tribulations of an interracial marriage turned upside down. The duo will co-write I Own You based on a 2008 short film of the same name that they penned and starred in together and which Williams directed.

Mark Wahlberg and partner Stephen Levinson, who have signed on to produce the Julius Caesar saga The Roman. It’s an origin story that envisions the future dictator as a young general in the Roman army in a rarely discussed period of his life. Kidnapped by Cilician pirates and enslaved on their prison island, Caesar escapes with his men, and the decisions he makes during this time directly affect the political and social upheaval happening in Rome. Travis Baker and Richard Tanne wrote the script.
