Stephen King’s ‘Ayana’ in Development at Universal TV

is developing Stephen King’s 2007 short story, “Ayana,” into a dramatic series. NBC is currently considering the project, though Universal TV will shop it to other networks if the broadcast network passes on it. Chris Sparling will write the pilot with Ben Haber producing. Jordan Kerner will executive produce. In the story set in 1982, a narrator tells of how a blind seven-year-old girl named Ayana kissed his father, who was dying of pancreatic cancer, and heals him. In return, the narrator must repay this miracle, though. And over the years is called upon to do so.

20th Century Fox TV Overhauls Exec Structure, Promotes Jonathan Davis and Michael Thorn

is reorganizing its exec ranks, promoting Jonathan Davis to president of creative affairs overseeing the studio’s comedy, drama, animation and current programming departments. Drama development chief Michael Thorn has been upped to exec VP of development, adding oversight of comedy to his purview.


Dominic Monaghan & Michael Nyqvist Topline Red Arrow Series ‘100 Code’
Dominic Monaghan is set to star and Michael Nyqvist to co-star in 100 Code (aka The Hundred Code), a 12-episode drama series created by Bobby Moresco. The series, produced by Fabrik Entertainment and Red Arrow International, is set in Sweden where young women have been turning up dead in a field of asphodel flowers over the course of 12 months. It centers on New York Detective Tommy Conley (Monaghan) who, through a special dispensation from the NYPD, is permitted to observe and advise the Stockholm PD. There, he is paired with veteran homicide detective Mikael Eklund (Nyqvist). Both hate each other but have to learn to work together to stop the killings. Filming is slated to begin in Sweden in April. The series is yet to be shopped to U.S. networks.

‘Game of Thrones” Kit Harington to Star in ‘Testament of Youth’

is producing the film adaptation of the WW1 autobiography which is being made by BBC Films. James Kent, who has helmed episodes of Starz’s The White Queen, is directing. Youth, written by Vera Brittain and published in 1933, tells of how the author postponed her studies to Oxford to serve as a nurse in the Great War, during which she lost her fiance and brother. After the war, she tried to resume her life but found herself part of a lost generation, returning to Oxford and becoming a feminist and a writer. Alicia Vikander is portraying Brittain; Harington will play her fiance.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill Reteaming for Atlanta Olympics Drama
Fox has picked up the rights to the Vanity Fair article "The Ballad of Richard Jewell" for the duo to star in and produce. Jewell was working as a security guard at the ’96 Summer Games when he discovered a backpack containing pipe bombs, subsequently sounding the alarm and helping to clear the area. Initially hailed as a hero, Jewell was soon the prime suspect.

Matthew McConaughey to Star in Gus Van Sant’s ‘Sea of Trees’
