Netflix Orders Comedy Series to Star Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin
Netflix has given a 13-episode order to half-hour comedy series “Grace and Frankie” starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, as the leading Internet subscription-video service continues to build out its originals lineup. The project hails from “Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris. Paula Weinstein and David Ellison’s Skydance Prods. are producing for Netflix. Single-camera series revolves around two longtime rivals who are brought together when their husbands decide to run off together to get married.

The Alphabet will wrap up three of its series — Friday comedies “The Neighbors” and “Last Man Standing” and Thursday drama “Scandal” — in April. “Neighbors” closes up shop on April 11, and “Last Man” ends its season on April 25, the first Friday of the May sweep. On Sundays, “Resurrection” airs the eighth and final episode of its short inaugural season on May 4, and the following week will see a two-hour finale for “Once Upon a Time” leading into the finale of “Revenge.”
