FOX to Air Hour Long ‘The Simpsons’ / ‘Family Guy’ Crossover Episode in September 2014
During FOX’s upfront presentation, FOX entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly announced that an hour long The Simpsons/ Family Guy crossover episode will air in September 2014. The network has dubbed the episode The Simpsons Guy.

We Are … Not Picked Up Yet? Fox Upfront Features ‘Sober Companion’ Poster
Did Fox‘s events department jump the gun or just use the wrong poster? People attending the Fox upfront presentation at the Beacon Theatre today were greeted with movie-style posters for all of the network’s new series as part of Fox’s new marketing campaign with the tagline “We Are …” But among the shows that made it was Sober Companion. The problem is that the Sober Companion comedy pilot, starring Nick Frost and Justin Long, has not been picked up to series.

ABC is moving up Rookie Blue’s Season 5 premiere. ABC has bumped up the premiere to June 19 at 9/8c. The show was previously scheduled to return July 17 at 10 pm.

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from the throne, siblings Georgie (Ed Gamble) and Poppy Carlton (Amy Hoggart) were born into a life of privilege, splendor and royalty…almost. BBC AMERICA’s first original comedy series, Almost Royal, follows the two young British aristocrats as they venture outside the palace and across the pond on their first trip to the U.S., where they interact with real-life, unsuspecting everyday Americans. Almost Royal premieres with back-to-back episodes Saturday, June 21, 10:00pm ET.

The fourth season of TV Land’s original sitcom “The Exes” will now premiere Wednesday, November 5th at 10:30pm ET/PT, not August 13th as initially announced.

Major League Soccer Strikes 8-Year, $720M TV Deals With ESPN, Fox Sports & Univision
The U.S. pro league has inked eight-year deals with ESPN, Fox Sports and Univision that run from 2015-22, with the nets combining to air 125-plus MLS matches each season. The league and the partners didn’t disclose financial terms, but Sports Business Daily reports that Fox Sports and ESPN are paying a combined $75 million a year, with Univision chipping in $15 million per, for a total of $720 million over the life of the deal.


Marvel CCO Talks Disney’s ‘Daredevil’ Netflix Series

assures fans that the series will be "something that’s unexpected [and] going to keep them coming back for more." He continued by saying that it’s “obviously” easier to work with Daredevil’s 13-episode season that Agents of SHIELD’s 22 episode count. “We can sit there and look at 13 episodes and plan it out as a very large movie. It makes seeing the bigger picture a little bit easier,” he explained, adding that Netflix shows are “a different kind of construction” in terms of pacing the story. “Even the way that you parse out information and reveals within the show can be different than you would on weekly TV,” he said.


SSN: The Shifting Comedy Scene: Where to Find New Talent Online and In Person in LA
Where does TV go to find fresh new comedy faces in 2014? While Second City and the Groundlings remain at the top of the list, veteran casting directors are turning increasingly to the Internet. Barylski agrees that top-notch acting skills are key in today’s TV comedy, but adds that a web presence is as important to today’s would-be comedy star as yesterday’s head shot. An enormous Twitter following isn’t bad either, she adds. “Frankly, if I meet a fledging actor, somebody who’s not established yet, if I don’t see a web series on their resume, I think they’re not doing their job,” she says.

AT&T reportedly very close to acquiring DirecTV
will soon announce its acquisition of satellite provider DirecTV, according to Bloomberg. The company will reportedly propose an aggressive takeover bid of $100 per share, which values DirecTV at around $50 billion and is higher than the $40 billion figure floated previously. Both parties expect the regulatory process to take somewhere around 12 months, the report says.

You Can Now Buy the Bug on Adult Swim
One of the things Adult Swim will be selling its advertisers in 2014 is the little company logo in the corner of the screen, which (until now) has simply read "[adult swim]," Variety reports. The network has been getting into a number of nontraditional advertising options recently, notably branded content (a notoriously tricky kind of promotion to do successfully), but the bug seems to fit with the network’s try-anything ethos while simultaneously satisfying the advertiser’s yen to get as deep into the content as possible, which reaches a much larger-than-average percentage of young men and men of color.
