ESPN Touts New ‘SportsCenter’ Set; ‘PTI’ Co-Hosts Sign New Multi-Year Deals
ESPN teased its new “SportsCenter” set and announced contract extensions for “Pardon the Interruption” co-hosts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon at its upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday. The new studio space, at ESPN’s Digital Center in Bristol, Conn., is about 10,000 square feet and boasts 114 monitors. It is technically two studios, allowing one show to rehearse while another shoots, and will debut in June.
Shonda Rhimes Renews with ABC Studios Through 2018
Shonda Rhimes has set a long-term extension of her overall deal with ABC Studios. Deal calls for her Shondaland banner to remain with ABC Studios through May 2018.
SundanceTV Developing ‘Hap and Leonard’ Crime Fighting Book Series
SundanceTV is developing “Hap and Leonard,” a project based on Joe Lansdale’s stories of an unlikely pair of best friends and martial arts experts who solve crimes in their East Texas town. Jim Mickle and Nick Damici will be adapting the novels, novellas and short stories about white, working-class Hap Collins and black, gay Leonard Pine. Mickle will also direct.
Georgia King & Sarah Baker Exit ‘The Odd Couple’
CBS’ newly picked up comedy series The Odd Couple is making casting changes on the female side. Georgia King and Sarah Baker are exiting The Odd Couple reboot, leaving Lindsay Sloane as the only female cast member from the pilot to continue on the series.

Microsoft said Tuesday it will offer a version of its Xbox One videogame console for $399 without the Kinect motion control sensor starting June 9 in all markets, and give Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners access to entertainment apps like Netflix and HBO Go whether or not they have an Xbox Live Gold membership — a significant move to promote use of the console as more of an entertainment hub just as Xbox Entertainment Studios is about to launch its first slate of original series like a live action “Halo.”

It was easily one of the most sensitive and hilarious treatments of divorce on television. It also happened to be the best freshman network comedy this year. Even more than the most lauded new comedy of the year, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Trophy Wife took full advantage of every actor in its cast. The kids were excellent, and Ackerman and Whitford flourished in the ensemble format playing off the severity of Marcia Gay Harden’s Diane and the quirkiness of Michaela Watkins’ Jackie.
