CBS Gives Pilot Production Commitment to Drama Based on Bioethicist Arthur L. Caplan
has given a pilot production commitment to “Austen’s Razor,” a drama from Legendary Television and CBS Television Studios that’s inspired by the career of bioethics expert Arthur L. Caplan. Screenwriter-novelist David Klass and his pediatrician-author sister Perri Klass are writing the pilot with Caplan. The story follows a brilliant bioethicist who is called in at crisis moments to solve the most complicated, dynamic and confounding medical issues imaginable.

confirmed Thursday it will not order a second round.

Kyle MacLachlan joins ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ as Skye’s father
Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first premiered, the show has been hinting at the identity of Skye’s parents. Sources confirm that Kyle MacLachlan has been cast in the role, though there’s no word yet on how long he’ll be sticking around.

(ratings) ‘Game of Thrones’ viewership grows to nearly 20 million
As part of Time Warner’s quarterly earnings report, the company noted that Thrones viewership has swelled to a record-high of 19 million viewers. That massive number includes all the different ways the show is consumed—original airings, repeats, DVR playback and streaming. It also represents a major gain on the next-day numbers that are usually reported, which tend to be around 7 million. That said, AMC claims an incredible 28 million viewers per episode for The Walking Dead season 4, including repeats and streaming.


Near Myth: Stan Lee’s ‘Apollo Rising’ To Meld With ‘Eternal’ For Greek God Project
Two projects, very similar in subject matter about Greek Gods on Earth, are being melded together into one project at Sony. ApolloRising — which is based on an original idea by the legendary comic book creator Stan Lee and developed between Lee and Avi Arad is merging with Eternal, which was a spec script from Victoria Aveyard purchased earlier this year. Eternal is said to be a modern interpretation of the story about Greek Gods coming to Earth, complete with minotaurs. Apollo Rising is said to be about Greek Gods which have been living among humans on Earth in various hidden forms. The project will now be produced by Arad, Lee, Michael Costigan, Pouya Shabazian, Benderspink’s J.C. Spink and Jake Weiner.

Universal, Imagine Acquire Anne Rice’s ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ Book Series
Universal and Imagine Entertainment have acquired the rights to Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series. The acquisition encompasses the entire body of existing and future novels in the series. There are 13 books in the main series, with another — Prince Lestat
