ABC Developing ‘Derrick Storm’ Series Based on Richard Castle Novels
This is meta: ABC is in the early stages of developing a drama series based on the “Derrick Storm” series of mystery novels penned by Richard Castle, the author played by Nathan Fillion in the Alphabet’s drama “Castle.” Drama vet Gregory Poirier is writing the pilot for ABC Studios and will exec produce with “Castle” creator/exec producer Andrew Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller. The Derrick Storm character is a spy who gets called on by the CIA for mysterious missions. The project is not envisioned as a “Castle” spinoff, however.
NBC Nabs Kari Lizer Mom Comedy With Put Pilot Commitment
NBC is back in business with Kari Lizer, giving a put pilot commitment to a multi-camera comedy from the New Adventures Of Old Christine creator. Titled Wing Mom, the project, from Warner Bros. TV where Lizer’s company Kari’s Logo Here is based, is inspired by Lizer’s relationship with her adult children.
DirecTV Renews Full Circle for Season 2
DirecTV is coming Full Circle again, renewing the relationship drama for a 10-episode second season. Each season follows a group of adults whose lives are unknowingly intertwined.
BOOM! Studios Inks First-Look Deal With 20th Century Fox TV
Comic book and graphic novel publisher BOOM! Studios is making a push in television with a first-look deal at 20th Century Fox TV for broadcast and cable projects. Under the pact, the studio’s roster of writers and producers will have access to source material from the entire portfolio of BOOM! Imprints.

Lionsgate has bought The Three Tenors, an ensemble comedy spec by Johnny Rosenthal that will be produced by Patrick Aiello. Think A Night At The Opera meets Anchorman here as the comedy traces the rise and fall, and then another rise and fall and then rise, of a fictional trio of internationally beloved operatic superstars.
New Line to Adapt Jojo Moyes Novel ‘One Plus One’
One Plus One follows a single mom with two kids, one being bullied and the other a math whiz. When the latter is presented with a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity on the other side of the country, the mom procures the help of her obnoxious tech millionaire employer and everyone, including the dog, sets out on a road trip that changes their lives.
Jamie Linden to Write Lionsgate’s ‘Chaos Walking’
Jamie Linden will write the screenplay of Lionsgate’s franchise starter “Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go.” Robert Zemeckis has been attached to direct for the past year. Charlie Kaufman originally adapted the screenplay from Patrick Ness’ novel of the same name. The book, published in 2008 as the first book in a trilogy, is set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts.
Ken Jeong to Star in WWE Studios Comedy with Hulk Hogan, David Hasselhoff
Ken Jeong has signed on to star in a comedy for WWE Studios that the company will co-produce with Hyde Park Entertainment. Project also features David Hasselhoff and WWE’s Hulk Hogan. The project, currently being developed under the working title “Untitled Celebrity Death Pool,” will have the thesp portray a struggling nightclub owner who after amassing a large debt from a loan shark, sets out to win a long-running celebrity death pool by attempting to kill Hasselhoff.
Dan Patrick’s ‘Jeopardy!’ Spinoff Gets September Premiere
Sportscaster Dan Patrick will make his game show host debut Sept. 24 with the premiere of Sports Jeopardy! on Crackle.
HBO Ups Amy Gravitt, Nick Hall, David Levine & Francesca Orsi To SVP
HBO has elevated four executives to SVP, Programming — two in comedy, Amy Gravitt and Nick Hall, and two in drama, David Levine and Francesca Orsi. Gravitt and Hall, who oversee the development and production of original comedy series, report to EVP of HBO Programming and head of comedy Casey Bloys. Levine and Orsi, who have the same responsibilities on the drama side, report to EVP of HBO Programming and head of drama Michael Ellenberg.

HBR: Age and Gender Matter in Viral Marketing
To get a better understanding of how people of different genders and ages react to content, we surveyed 485 people online and asked them to indicate which emotions they felt when viewing 23 viral Imgur images we chose from over a three-month period. They could select feelings related to joy, sadness, fear, disgust, or surprise by choosing an adjective related to that emotion. We also conducted a similar survey featuring non-viral images instead of viral ones for comparison purposes. The subtle differences we discovered could have big implications regarding the nature of virality and content marketing.
