Naomi, Adam Scott Team With ‘Parks and Rec’ Writer for NBC Marijuana Comedy
Naomi and Adam Scott
are poised to explore the world of marijuana for NBC. The couple has set up scripted comedy Buds at NBC. The comedy, which received a script commitment, revolves around the day-to-day operations of a marijuana dispensary in Denver, Colo. It marks the first sale for the Parks and Recreation star and his producer-wife under their Gettin’ Rad Productions’ two-year first-look deal with Universal Television. Joe Mande will pen the script and executive produce alongside Naomi and Adam Scott.

Jenji Kohan’s Salem Drama ‘New World’ Nabs HBO Pilot Order, Gus Van Sant to Direct
Jenji Kohan’s
Salem drama — now titled New World — has been picked up to pilot. Gus Van Sant has also boarded the drama as an exec producer and will direct the pilot. Production on the pilot will begin in the spring in Massachusetts. Kohan will pen the script with Bruce Miller and Tracy Miller. The drama is a co-production between HBO and Lionsgate TV.

USA Pilot ‘Evil Men’ Not Going Forward
USA Network
has opted not to proceed with supernatural drama pilot Evil Men, from CBS TV Studios and Universal Cable Prods. Written by Daniel Taplitz and directed by Gary Fleder.

Jami Gertz To Co-Star In ABC’s NBA Comedy Pilot
Jami Gertz will co-star opposite Skylar Astin in the pilot, written/executive produced by Casey Johnson and David Windsor.

Jose Moreno Brooks Cast In NBC’s ‘Telenovela’, Ana Kayne Joins CBS’ ‘LFE’
Jose Moreno Brooks
, a former semi-pro soccer player-turned-actor, has been cast as a series regular opposite Eva Longoria in NBC’s 13-episode single-camera comedy series Telenovela. Ana Kayne has been cast in CBS’ medical drama pilot LFE.

Eddie Cibrian, Donald Faison, Josh Hopkins to Star in NBC’s Monica Potter Comedy
Eddie Cibrian, Donald Faison, Josh Hopkins and Rory Scovel have been tapped to star in the network’s semi-autobiographical comedy. ‘Ground Floor’s’ Rory Scovel will also play an ex-husband in the family comedy from EP Ellen DeGeneres.

In a small, blue-collar town in Pennsylvania, a 32-year-old woman’s teen daughter goes missing and she is left to raise her infant grandson alone. The story is told over the course of 11 years, from the time her daughter vanishes, through the the trials-and-tribulations of subsequent years looking for closure, leading up the long-awaited discovery of the truth.

Ridley Scott To Produce New ‘Aliens’ Pic; Neill Blomkamp To Direct For Fox
Chappiehelmer Neill Blomkamp’s next movie will be an Aliens film for 20th Century Fox. Sources say Ridley Scott’s Scott Free will produce the pic, which Blomkamp will direct. He will develop a script that is set after the Prometheus 2 story.
