CBS has set a straight-to-series order for 13 episodes of “BrainDead,” a one-hour comic thriller from Robert and Michelle King.“BrainDead” will follow a young Capitol Hill staffer after getting her first job in Washington, D.C., after discovering that the government has stopped working and aliens have come to earth and eaten the brains of Congressmen and Hill staffers.
Syfyhas officially acquired Wynonna Earp, a 13-episode Canadian drama series based on the IDW Publishing comic created by Beau Smith. Melanie Scrofanois set to star as Wynonna. Emily Andras is developing the series for television and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. A modern supernatural Western, it follows Wyatt Earp’s great granddaughter as she battles demons and other supernatural beings.
A+E Networks has tapped Phillip Noyceand Thomas Carterto direct nights one and three, respectively, of its four-night eight-hour scripted event seriesRoots. Directors for nights two and four are yet to be announced. In addition, A+E has named Questlove executive music producer.
