Fox Eyes Kentucky Bourbon Drama From ‘Hell On Wheels’ Producer

Fox is developing a drama project set in the world of Kentucky bourbon as a one-hour scripted series with Bruce Romans and New Wave Entertainment. The Untitled Kentucky Bourbon Project centers on the self-made patriarch of a Kentucky bourbon empire and his family. When he has a public breakdown, his children must overcome their differences and their father’s sordid past in order to save the family and their business. Romans will pen the pilot script and executive produce.

NBC Developing Legal Soap ‘Miranda’s Rights’

NBC has handed out a script commitment to legal soap Miranda’s Rights. The drama is described as a legal soap that centers on 28-year-old Miranda Coale, who six years after a sex scandal upended her life, gets a shot at redemption when she’s hired by a group of millennials living and lawyering together in a start-up law firm. Katie Lovejoy will pen the script and exec produce alongside Universal Television-based John Glenn.

Mark Harmon, CBS Developing Navy SEAL Drama ‘The Red Circle’

CBS is teaming with Mark Harmon to develop Brandon Webb and John David Mann’s New York Times best-seller The Red Circle: My Life in the Navy SEAL Sniper Corps and How I Trained America’s Deadliest Marksmen. The CBS drama is told through the point of view of an experienced but newly promoted Navy SEAL who has joined a troubled platoon. Harmon will executive produce the drama through his CBS Television Studios-based Wings Productions. Todd Robinson will pen the script and exec produce.

Anne Hathaway to Star in ‘The Ambassador’s Wife’ Limited TV Series

Anne Hathaway is to star in the limited TV series The Ambassador’s Wife from The Mark Gordon Company. Inspired by her experiences as the wife of the British ambassador to Yemen, Jennifer Steil’s novel portrays the kidnapping of an American woman in the Middle East and the heartbreaking choices she and her husband must make to possibly be reunited. The Ambassador’s Wife is the first TV project from the indie studio formed by MGC and Entertainment One, which will distribute internationally.

‘The Catch’: Showrunners Exit Shondaland ABC Drama Over Creative Differences

Jennifer Schuur, who created “The Catch,” and Josh Reims, who was to serve as exec producer and co-showrunner alongside Schuur, have exited the ABC Studios midseason drama. Sources said producers are eyeing “Scandal” alum Allan Heinberg to take the reins as showrunner and exec producer.

Syfy Cancels ‘Haven’ After Five Seasons

The second half of the season is set to bow in October.
