‘Genes’ Medical Soap Based On Michael Crichton Script Set At CBS As Put Pilot

CBShas given a put pilot commitment to Genes, fromWarner Bros. TV. Written by Rick Eidbased on a screenplay by the late Michael Crichton, Genes, from WBTV and CrichtonSun LLC, is described as a high-concept medical soap about a brilliant doctor who saves his dying patient’s life using a miraculous gene therapy — infused with his own DNA — only to realize the side effects have turned her into a dangerous sociopath.

Phil Lord, Christopher Miller to Adapt ‘Serial’ Podcast for TV

Sarah Koenig and her ‘This American Life’ team will serve as producers on the Fox 21 TV Studios scripted cable series. Though details are being closely guarded, the plan is to create a cable series based on the experience of making the hugely successful podcast. It will not follow the Adnan Syed case that host Sarah Koenig chronicled week to week.

NBC Scraps 1970s Miniseries From Adam Levine

NBC has scrapped plans for The 1970s, a miniseries produced by Adam Levine and his 222 Productions banner and Sony Pictures Television. Hayden Christensen and Kelsey Grammer were engaged to play the leads. Producers went back to NBC to see if the casting would get the network to go straight- to-series on the project, instead of the planned pilot presentation. NBC didn’t want to take the gamble and pulled the plug completely.

(sched) ‘Unforgettable’ Season 4 Gets November Premiere On A&E

The resurrectedUnforgettablewill make its fourth season premiere on Friday, November 13 at its new home on A&E. The network, which picked up the cancelled CBS series, will debut the 13-episode Season 4 with back-to-back episodes at 8 PM and 9 PM.

Amazon Acquires Streaming Rights To ‘BrainDead’, 2 More New Summer Series

The new multi-year, multi-series agreement makes Amazon Prime Video the exclusive subscription streaming home for three new CBS summer series through 2018. Next summer’s BrainDeadwill be the first new show included in the deal.

Netflix Orders 7 Original Kids’ Series, Including Lego’s ‘Bionicle’ and DreamWorks’ ‘Croods’

Netflix is ratcheting up its lineup for kids, announcing orders for seven original series, including one based on Lego Group’s “Bionicle” and another on DreamWorks Animation’s movie “The Croods.”

David Schwimmer to Star in New C4 Comedy

David Schwimmer has joined the cast of the new Julia Davis sitcom Morning Has Broken, due to air in 2016 on Channel 4. The 6×30-minute series is produced by Brown Eyed Boy. Davis will play the role of Gail Sinclair, the star of a TV morning show. Schwimmer will play an American producer brought in to try to save the floundering fictional series.

Kate Bosworth Set To Star In ‘SS-GB’ For The BBC

Kate Bosworth has just been set to star in the new, period drama SS-GBfor the BBC. Based on the novel by Len Deighton and adapted by screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the story takes place in London 1941 and a ‘what-would-have-happened-if’ scenario.


Susie Fitzgerald Upped to EVP of Scripted Programming for AMC and SundanceTV

AMC Networks has promoted Susie Fitzgerald to executive vice president of scripted programming for both AMC and SundanceTV. Kristin Jones has officially joined the network as senior vice president of international programming, development, acquisitions and co-productions. Kristi Felton has joined AMC as vice president of scripted programming.
