College Sex Scandal Drama From Jessica Mecklenburg & Rod Lurie Lands At NBCNBChas put into development a university-set hourlong drama penned by Jessica Mecklenburgthat has Rod Lurieattached to direct the pilot and executive produce. The project, titled Fated, is from Michael Eisner’s Tornante TV and Universal Television. The plot revolves around two brothers at the top of their game — one the president of a Texas university and the other the revered football coach — and the sex scandal that threatens to unravel their family legacy.

Kevin Bacon Signs on for ‘Tremors’ TV Reboot
Kevin Bacon
has signed on to star and exec produce a television series adaptation of “Tremors.” Based on the 1990 film, Bacon will reprise his role of Valentine McKee, 25 years later. He will also serve as an exec producer. No network is yet attached to the “Tremors” remake, which hails from the NBCUniversal-based Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions, though insiders say multiple venues are hot on the project. Andrew Miller will pen the script.

Showtime has greenlit a new unscripted series, which will delve into the ominous and disturbing perspective of a digitally connected world. “Dark Net” is set to premiere on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 11:00 p.m. The eight-part docuseries explores the netherworld where virtual and physical lives collide in ways surprising, disturbing and seemingly inevitable. Each half-hour episode will cover themes including bio-hacking, cyber-kidnapping, digital warfare, online cults, pornography addiction and the webcam sex trade.

will make its debut on HBO on January 16.
