Female Baseball Drama ‘Pitch’ Scores Fox Pilot Pickup, Casts LeadThe baseball drama hails from prolific producer Dan Fogelman and centers on a young female pitcher who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues. Kylie Bunbury has been cast to star.

Gale Anne Hurd-Henry Bromell Drama ‘Falling Water’ Ordered to Series at USAMind-bending drama Falling Water is moving forward at USA. The NBCUniversal-owned cable network on Thursday announced that the project from late Homeland Emmy winner Henry Bromell has been picked up to series. Falling Water is described as a thriller intersecting reality and unconscious thoughts. The drama, which is being exec produced and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, focuses on three unrelated people who slowly realize that they are dreaming separate parts of a single common dream.

Amy Pascal & Jamie Foxx Team For 1940s TV Crime Drama About Race ‘Darktown’

and Sony Pictures Television have landed the rights to Darktown, an upcoming crime novel by Thomas Mullen. Pascal has teamed with Jamie Foxx to executive produce the project, with Pascal Pictures’ Rachel O’Connor producing. Set in Atlanta in 1948, the story centers on the city’s first black police officers — whose hire in the department as a result from pressure on high is met with vitriol from their white counterparts and distrust within their own African American community.

Netflix Orders Scripted Series ‘Haters Back Off’ Based on YouTube Star Miranda Sings
has given a straight-to-series order to a show based on Miranda Sings, the popular character created by YouTube star Colleen Ballinger-Evans. Ballinger-Evans will star in the upcoming streaming show, titled “Haters Back Off.” “Haters Back Off” delves into the oddball family life of Miranda Sings, an incredibly confident, totally untalented star on the rise who continues to fail upward by the power of her belief that she was born famous — it’s just no one knows it yet.

Deadline: Some CBS Single-Camera Comedy Projects Being Turned Into Multi-CameraCBS has asked a number of single-camera pilot scripts to be reworked as multi-camera or hybrid. Additionally, the format of 1-2 single-camera CBS scripts has been changed proactively to multi-/hybrid by the studios that produce them. Sources close to CBS note that out of 16 delivered single-camera scripts, four were asked to change the format to multi-camera or hybrid and the decisions were made based on the specific projects’ feel and setup — taking place in a limited number of locations, largely inside, featuring bigger, laugh-out-loud jokes, etc.
