Matt LeBlanc to Star in CBS Family Comedy Pilot With Series Commitment
Matt LeBlanc
has been tapped to star in CBS’ multicamera comedy pilot I’m Not Your Friend, which has a hefty series commitment penalty attached for LeBlanc’s services. LeBlanc would executive produce the comedy and star as a contractor who learns that raising his kids is more challenging than expected when his wife goes back to work. The comedy hails from Jeff and Jackie Filgo, who will pen the script and exec produce the CBS Television Studios project alongside 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg.

CBS Orders Family Comedy Pilot From ‘Mad TV’ Alum Stephnie Weir
has given a pilot order to an untitled comedy from “Mad TV” alum Stephnie Weir. The multi-camera comedy revolves around a conservative, small town family that is forced to reconcile its values when it discovers that its children’s lives are less than perfect. Weir serves as writer and executive producer on the project from CBS Television Studios. Greg Garcia also serves as EP for Amigos de Garcia Productions.

Fox Pushes For Scripts To Secure Helmers Before Pilot PickupIt has been a noticeable trend at Foxthis pilot season — many of the network’s pilot orders came with a director already on board, leapfrogging the first stage in pilot production which involves locking in a helmer. Wrap: Fox Chief Hints at More Downsizing to ComeThe current wave of downsizing at 21st Century Fox may not be the last. Speaking to investors Monday following the release of the company’s second-quarter 2016 earnings, CEO James Murdoch indicated that the company has designs on cutting payroll beyond the buyout program that the company initiated last week in its film and TV businesses.

“One number that has been out there is really $250 million of savings around this particular program, but these are programs that are going to be ongoing,” Murdoch said. “And they run across all the businesses.”
