The Real O’Neals
is yet another fit for the network. It doesn’t start smoothly, but as we always say, comedies often require extra time to find their footing and with Plimpton, Ferguson and Galvin, the right pieces are in place and if the third and fourth episodes are an indication, The Real O’Neals may be heading in the right direction.

(review) Hitfix: ‘Zootopia’ is more rooted in the zeitgeist than typical Disney animationOne of the things that makes this feel different than most Disney films is how overtly of-the-moment it is, and it surprised me in that regard. A film that steers headlong into the current zeitgeist discussing racial profiling, how we accomplish social diversity, and the way we play into the roles we are assigned by our birth. I can’t think of many live-action films that would be able to juggle those ideas in a piece of entertainment, much less one that is accessible to audiences of all ages.

ABC’s Oscar Contract Renegotiations: Who’ll Get Creative Control?Negotiations for ABC to extend its license agreement for the annual Oscar telecast are underway, but there’s a sticking point: ABC wants more creative input. The network has always wanted more power, and now declining ratings strengthens its demand for a seat at the table when it comes to the show itself.
