TV Land Orders ‘First Wives Club,’ Kyle Richards Pilots, Renews ‘Teachers,’ More
TV Land
has picked up a comedy based on The First Wives Club. The long-gestating project will be written by New Girl’s Rebecca Addelman and exec produced by Jenny Bicks. The TV Land version will take place in modern-day San Francisco and center on three friends and former classmates from the 1990s who reconnect after their close friend from college dies in a freak accident. Paramount Television will produce the potential series.

Also picked up to pilot is an untitled comedy based on the life of Kyle Richards. The half-hour single-camera scripted effort is set in the 1970s and inspired by Richards’ upbringing. Produced by Warner Horizon Television, 30 Rock alum John Riggi will pen the script and exec produce alongside John Wells. TV Land has also signed ‘Younger’ creator Darren Star to an overall deal. Teachers, meanwhile, has been picked up for a supersized second season consisting of 20 episodes.

ABC Gives Early Renewals To 15 Series, Leaves ‘Castle’ & ‘Nashville’ On the BubbleIn one of her first programming moves since becoming president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey has given early renewals to the bulk of the network’s established series. …Early renewals are welcomed by showrunners and studios as they provide security, allowing them to lock in key writers for next season and spend more time planning the show’s creative direction.

Pop Renews ‘Schitt’s Creek’ for Season 3The scripted comedy starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara has been renewed. Season three will consist of 13 episodes.

Adult Swim Comedy From Sketch Troupe Million Dollar Extreme Gets Series Order, Official TitleThe 15-minute live-action Adult Swim series from the anti-comedy sketch troupe Million Dollar Extreme will be going to series and now has a title: Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace. The show will be set in a post-apocalyptic world barely ahead of the present day that satirizes the current political climate.

Netflix is financing the motion picture with Melissa Leostarring and Tommy O’Haver directing from his own script (which he co-wrote with Irene Turner).


Facebook wants to pay for NFL streaming rights, but Apple doesn’tLast month, the NFL sold off TV rights to its Thursday night games to CBS and NBC.
