Amazon Revives ‘The Tick’ With Pilot OrderThe long-gestating revival of “The Tick” has been ordered to pilot at Amazon. Ben Edlund, who created the original comic book character, will serve as writer and executive producer on the pilot, with Barry Josephson also producing. Wally Pfisteris in talks to direct. Sony Pictures Television will produce. Griffin Newman has been cast to play The Tick’s sidekick Arthur, with Valorie Curry playing his sister Dot.

Amy Ryan to Star in Nicole Holofcener Comedy Series From MRC
Nicole Holofcener
is teaming with Media Rights Capital to write and direct what is being eyed as a straight-to-series comedy with Amy Ryan set to star. MRC will shop the comedy to premium cable networks and streaming services.

USA Network’s ‘Royal Pains’ to End With Season EightThe sun is setting on Royal Pains. The upcoming eighth season of the USA Network medical drama will be its last. The farewell season of Royal Pains kicks off Wednesday, May 18, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

US pay TV providers lost 385,000 subs last yearThe 13 largest pay TV providers in the US, representing roughly 95% of the market, lost some 385,000 net video subscribers in 2015, according to Leichtman Research. The new report claims that the number of subscribers dropping their pay TV packages more than doubled in 2015 from a loss of about 150,000 subscribers in 2014, and around 100,000 subscribers in 2013.
