Bella Thorne Drama ‘Famous in Love’ Ordered to Series at Freeform
Freeform is moving ahead with Famous in Love. The Disney-owned cable network has ordered the Bella Thorne starrer from Pretty Little Liars boss I. Marlene King to series. Based on the Rebecca Serle novel, Famous in Love follows ordinary college student Paige as she gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster. She must now navigate her new star-studded life and undeniable chemistry with her two co-leads while discovering the highs and lows that come with being the new It Girl in town. King and Serle penned the pilot, which was directed by Miguel Arteta.

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger to Be Live-Action Series at Freeform
Freeform is getting into the superhero business, giving a straight-to-series order to Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger. The live-action project follows Tyrone “Ty” Johnson and Tandy Bowen, a pair of powered young people who as Cloak and Dagger absorb baddies into “darkness” and shoot light daggers, respectively. No writer has been attached to the series, but the search is currently under way. Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios will co-produce.

Menendez Brothers Set as Focus of NBC’s Dick Wolf ‘Law & Order’ Anthology Series
NBC announced that it is developing its own true crime anthology series with prolific producer Dick Wolf. Like Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story, the project will focus on a different real-life crime every season. Titled Law & Order: True Crime — The Menendez Brothers, the first eight-episode season of the project will focus specifically on brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez.

Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg to Develop ‘The Boys’ Adaptation for Cinemax
Seth Rogenand Evan Goldbergare teaming up to adapt another Garth Ennis graphic novel for TV, this time setting their sights on “The Boys” for Cinemax. The graphic novel is set in a world in which superheroes exist, but they have been corrupted by their star power and often engage in dangerous behavior without thought of the consequences. “The Boys” are an elite team of CIA agents responsible for monitoring–and possibly eliminating–rogue heroes. “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke will write.

TBS Renews Jason Jones’ ‘The Detour’ Ahead of Series Debut
TBS has renewed the series for a second season, just days ahead of its series premiere. The 13-episode pickup is three more than its 10-episode freshman order.

Esquire Network Renews Scripted Drama ‘Spotless’ for Season 2
Esquire Network has renewed “Spotless” for a second season. The drama is the cabler’s first-ever scripted original series.
