Amazon’s ‘Transparent’ Renewed for Season 4

Bill Wolffis departing Chelsea, Chelsea Handler‘s new Netflixtalk show, on which he served as executive producer/showrunner. The move comes three weeks and nine episodes into the program’s run.


Sky orders cancer comedy
Sky Atlantic in the UK has ordered a sitcom about a misdiagnosed cancer patient starring former Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint. Sick Note has been written by Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz. The six-part comedy is about a compulsive liar who claims to have cancer to make people be nicer to him.

Gianna Jun and Lee Min-ho to Star in Korean TV Series ‘Blue Sea’
Korean super stars Gianna Jun (“Assassination”) and Lee Min-ho (“Bounty Hunters”) will appear together in new Korean TV series, “The Legend of the Blue Sea.” The drama will mark a return to the small screen for both Jun and Lee after a hiatus of three years for both idols. “Blue Sea” is a fantasy romance drama based on a mermaid story from Korea’s first collection of unofficial historical tales.

Amazon lines up Japanese originals
Amazon has reportedly launched a slate of Japan-produced original series for its Prime Video service. According to Bloomberg, Amazon is debuting 12 shows in a bid to up Japanese Prime membership, which also includes shipping retail privileges. The shows include Ultraman Orb, a spin-off of the Ultraman superhero franchise; documentary Invisible Tokyo; and high concept comedy Work in Space.

EuropaCorp Television, which is headquartered at La Cite du Cinema on the outskirts of Paris, launched EuropaCorp TV Studios USA shepherded by Matthew Gross in May 2014 and is already on track to deliver the TV spinoff of “Taken” for NBC in 2017. The American division has five other shows in the pipeline, including “Bulletproof” which has pre-sold to Amazon Studios.


Shonda Rhimes Named Mipcom’s Personality of the Year
Shonda Rhimes, the creator and producer of such worldwide hits as “Grey’s Anatomy,””Scandal” and “Private Practice,” will be celebrated at Cannes-set TV showcase Mipcom where she will receive the Personality of the Year award.
