Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bodybuilding Drama ‘Pump’ Moves to CBS Television Studios
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding drama Pump is taking shape. The scripted project, which was originally sold to Showtime back in 2013, is now in development at CBS Television Studios. The eight-episode hourlong drama, in which Schwarzenegger will also star, traces the origin of the present-day fitness industry and culture of body worship to a single 1,000-square-foot concrete room on Pacific Avenue: a gym called Pump. The series is set in early 1970s Venice Beach, Calif., where Schwarzenegger famously got his start as a bodybuilder. In addition to executive producers The Tannenbaum Co.’s Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Schwarzenegger and Michael Konyves, who created the series, Emmett/Furla/Oasis CEOs Randall Emmett and George Furla have boarded the projects as exec producers. MTV Developing ‘The Escort’ Pilot Based On Feature Film With Michael Doneger
Michael Donegerhas been set to write, executive produce and star in The Escort, an MTVdrama pilot based on the 2015 feature Doneger co-wrote and starred in alongside Lyndsey Fonseca. Blake Goza and Mark DiCristofaro, who produced the film, will also serve as executive producers on the TV project. The film, directed by Will Slocombe, centered on a sex-obsessed writer (Doneger) in need of a big story to land an editorial gig. ‘Captain Power’ Recharges With Reboot Series, Heads To Comic-Con
The 1980s sci-fi TV series Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future is coming back from the past, with original co-creator Gary Goddardamong those behind a reboot plan for the Canada-U.S. space drama that spanned 22 episodes in syndication. The new series is titled Phoenix Risingand is in active development from Goddard’s Goddard Film Group and ex-Syfy execs Thomas Vitale and Craig Engler’s newly formed Planet X Productions. The original Captain Power was set on Earth in the year 2147 and the aftermath of the Metal Wars, a global confrontation between humans and machines. FremantleMedia Buys Random House Studio With New TV-Movie Alliance
