Chris and Paul Weitz Team With Grant Morrison for ‘Sinatoro’ TV Series
Chris and Paul Weitz and Universal Television are teaming up with Grant Morrison to adapt the latter’s upcoming title, Sinatoro. Adam Armus and Kay Foster are writing the TV script with Morrison. Sinatoro, based on the forthcoming Black Mask Studios comic by Morrison and artist Vanesa R. Del Rey, tells of a necronaut who is sent into the afterlife to save Earth from destruction. The story, a modern take on the Tibetan Book of the Dead, has influences from the Western genre, and classic U.S. Route 66 also figures into it.

‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Revival Set at Netflix
“Mystery Science Theater 3000” has scored a revival at Netflix. The revival is set to star Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt, along with original cast members Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy and Mary Jo Pehl who will reprise their roles. Dan Harmon and Joel Harmon are set to join the writing staff, which is being led by head writer Elliott Kalan, former head writer of “The Daily Show.”

New ‘Star Trek’ Series: David Semel Set To Direct
David Semel is set to direct and executive produce the opening episode of the upcomingStar Trekreboot series. Semel has a strong track record at CBS, helming three consecutive pilots that have gone to series which will be on the network’s fall schedule: returning Madam Secretary and Code Black and new medical drama Pure Genius.

Wynonna Earp Renewed for Season 2
Syfy has renewed for Season 2 the supernatural Western, which stars Melanie Scrofano as Wyatt Earp’s demon-fighting great granddaughter.

‘BoJack Horseman’ picked up for Season 4 on Netflix
Netflix’s critically praised comedy “BoJack Horseman” has been renewed for a fourth season, fresh on the heels (hooves?) of the release of its third season Friday.

‘Bates Motel’ will end with Season 5 and with Rihanna as Marion Crane
It’s official: “Bates Motel” is closing its doors after the upcoming fifth season. The executive producers made the announcement during their panel Friday at Comic-Con in San Diego. Also at Comic-Con, Cuse announced that pop star Rihanna will play Marion Crane — aka the victim in “Psycho,” originally played by Janet Leigh — in Season 5.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 will be its last on The CW
“The Vampire Diaries” is ending its run on The CW after 8 seasons. The cast and executive producers made the announcement at Comic-Con.

Fresh Off the Boat Is Going to Taiwan for Its Season 3 Premiere
Season three will pick up where the Huangs left off, with the family on vacation in Taipei for Gene’s wedding. The cast and crew will actually travel to Taiwan to film the season premiere next week. The three-day shoot will show off some of Taipei’s landmarks, cuisine, and street markets.

If ABC’s Speechless is in the Black-ish/Fresh Off the Boat/Modern Family category of comedies that arrived confidently and fully formed, American Housewife is in the Real O’Neals/Goldbergs category of ABC comedy pilots with great bones and a huge amount of work to do.


‘Agents of SHIELD’ Casts Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider
Gabriel Lunawill join the cast of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” for Season 4. The show’s producers announced that the “True Detective” alum will play Robbie Reyes, aka the Ghost Rider, on the ABC drama this fall.

Once Upon a Time Adds Aladdin, Jafar and Buffy Alum to Season 6
Once Upon a Time announced during their San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday that Season 6 will kick off with an Aladdin (Deniz Adkeniz) and Jafar (Oded Fehr) storyline. Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum James Marsters will also join the show next season.

Once Upon a Time: Princess Jasmine Cast With Galavant’s Karen David
Galavant star Karen David has been cast as Jasmine.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Casts Katey Sagal, Jack McBrayer for Season 10
Katey Sagal will join the hit CBS comedy as the mother of Kaley Cuoco’s character, and “30 Rock” alum Jack McBrayer will play Penny’s brother.

Hawaii Five-0 Adds Claire Forlani
Claire Forlani is returning to the CBS procedural fold, with a role on Hawaii Five-0. The CSI: NY and NCIS: Los Angeles alum is set to recur during Season 7 as Alicia Brown, a criminal profiler who works with Five-0 to track a serial killer targeting the people of Oahu.

Colton Haynes Joins Scream Queens Season 2
Colton Hayneshas officially joined the cast of the Fox horror-comedy.

‘SNL’s Cecily Strong To Guest Star On ‘Scream Queens’ Season 2
At Fox’s Scream QueensComic-Con panel, co-creator Ian Brennan announced that Saturday Night Live‘s Cecily Strong will be guest starring in Season 2 of the horror comedy, which is set in a hospital.

Sleepy Hollow Adds The Mysteries of Laura’s Janina Gavankar
Gavankar, who also appeared on Arrow and True Blood, will guest star in the upcoming Season 4.

‘Blindspot’ Adds Pair of Regulars, Drops Season 2 Hints
Luke MItchell and Michelle Hurd will join previously announced recurring player Archie Panjabi for the NBC sophomore drama.

Arrow’s Katie Cassidy Now a Series Regular Across All CW Hero Shows
Katie Cassidy is the latest Berlantiverse actor to ink one of those cool new deals, by which she is now a series regular across multiple CW superhero shows — namely The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and her original stomping grounds, Arrow.

Supernatural Adds Rick Springfield to Season 12

Zachary Levi Joins Alias Grace, Netflix and CBC’s 6-Hour Miniseries
Zachary Levi is set to co-star in Netflix’s six-hour miniseries Alias Grace. Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, Alias Grace centers around the true story and controversial conviction of Grace Marks (Sarah Gadon), an Irish immigrant who becomes a Canadian domestic servant and is later sentenced to prison for the murders of her employer and his housekeeper in 1843.

Will Beall is once again writing Aquaman, Warner Bros.’ feature project based on the iconic DC Comics character. This time however, he is working off a detailed treatment from filmmaker James Wan, who is attached to direct, and Geoff Johns, comics author and co-head of DC Films.

Rita Ora to Host ‘America’s Next Top Model’ on VH1
Rita Ora has been tapped to host the new iteration of “America’s Next Top Model.” The British singer and actress steps into the role following Tyra Banks, as the show is heading from the CW to VH1.

‘Impractical Jokers’ Renewed for Sixth Season at truTV
Season six will consist of 26 episodes set to launch in early 2017.


‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Ride Coming to Disneyland
Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” are going to Disneyland. Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, announced at Comic-Con on Saturday that the superhero blockbuster would get its own ride at the L.A. amusement park, beginning in 2017. Dubbed “Mission – Breakout!,” the “Guardians” attraction will take over the space previously occupied by the Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure, and drop guests directly into the story alongside characters from the comic books and the blockbuster films.
