ABC Buys DJ Nash Family Comedy ‘Losing It’ In Premium Deal
It’s been another very late start to the broadcast network buying season. In one of the higher-profile comedy deals so far, ABChas given a script with penalty commitment toLosing It, a single-camera family comedy from DJ Nash. Nash is executive producing the project with Aaron Kaplan from Kapital Entertainment. The comedy is set at ABC sibling ABC Studios. Written by Nash, Losing It is about three misfit adult siblings and their parents who — between divorce, new parenthood, early-onset dementia and let’s just say life — are all losing it in different ways. And family is the only way they’re going to find it.

Notorious B.I.G. Scripted Comedy in the Works at TBS
TBS announced that it is developing a scripted comedy inspired by the late rapper. Titled Think B.I.G., the series will chronicle the misadventures of an inner-city teen desperately trying to create a better future for his daughter and infant son. The plot will be loosely based on his lyrics. The comedy is being produced and created by Mass Appeal, in partnership with Wayne Barrow of Bystorm Films and Voletta Wallace for Notorious B.I.G. Inc.

‘Fresh Off the Boat’ Creator Inks Pod Deal at 20th TV, Hires Former Studio Exec to Head Development
Nahnatchka Khan has tapped Mandy Summers, formerly vp current programming at the studio, to oversee her Fierce Baby Productions banner.

The Associated Press is reporting that Vice President Joe Biden will be making an appearance on an upcoming episode of NBC’s Law & Order: SVU. Biden will go on the sexual assault-focused series in order to discuss the United States’ massive and depressing backlog of thousands upon thousands of untested rape kits.

In her new position, Socha will continue to oversee both current series and original concepts for the network, with an aim to broaden and expand Spike’s non-scripted slate. She will continue to report to Chachi Senior, SVP Original Series.

NBCUniversal Chief Steve Burke Extends Contract
Steve Burke has extended his contract and will remain in place as NBCUniversal CEO for another four years, according to regulatory filings. His initial deal with NBCUniversal’s parent company Comcast was set to expire in 2018. The new agreement takes Burke through August of 2020.

Charter Communications Names John Bickham President
John Bickham, COO of Charter Communications, was appointed as the company’s new president on Thursday. Bickham joined Charter in 2012 and will now serve a dual role as president and COO of Charter, the second largest cable operator in the U.S.

, president of Marvel Television, was on a Netflix panel for Luke Cage before the Television Critics Association. When asked if we could see any of the television characters, be it Luke Cage or Daredevil, in any of the Marvel movies, Loeb explained why it would be prohibitive to the television schedules.

Ars Technica: Apple’s negotiating tactics sunk its long-rumored TV service
The report, which it should be noted is sourced mostly from anonymous TV industry executives and not from anyone on Apple’s side of the negotiating table, lays most of the blame at the feet of SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. The executives say he showed up to a meeting with Time Warner late and underdressed ("jeans, tennis shoes with no socks, and a Hawaiian shirt," which to be fair does sound pretty much like the Eddy Cue we see at Apple events) and that his list of requests included on-demand seasons of popular shows and Tivo-esque cloud-based recordings of shows that would allow for ad skipping.
