Frankie Shaw to Adapt Short Film ‘SMILF’ as Showtime Comedy Pilot
The ‘Office’ duo of Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky will exec produce the ABC Studios pilot starring the ‘Mr. Robot’ favorite alongside Michael London. Set in Boston, SMILF will take a raw look at a single 20-something whose desires for relationships, sex and a career collide with the realities of young motherhood.

‘Brave New World’ To Be Adapted By Grant Morrison & Brian Taylor For Syfy
Grant Morrisonand Brian Taylorhave been tapped to adapt Aldous Huxley’s novelBrave New Worldfor Syfy, Universal Cable Productions and Amblin TV. UCP is also developing Happy! for Syfy, an adaptation of a graphic novel originally written by Morrison and co-created with artist Darick Robertson. Morrison and Taylor are set as executive producers and co-wrote the pilot; Taylor is attached to direct.

Seth Rogen Prepping New FX Comedy Series About the Singularity
Seth Rogen
and Evan Goldberg are gearing up to write and produce a new half-hour comedy television series about the singularity for FX.Rogen let the news slip while appearing on the Nerdist podcast promoting his latest film Sausage Party. The technological singularity is the hypothesis that “the invention of artificial superintelligence will abruptly trigger runaway technological growth, resulting in unfathomable changes to human civilization.”

Brett Ratner’s RatPac Unveils ‘In Harm’s Way’: Multi-Platform Anthology Series Inspired By UN Work
Brett Ratnerand James Packer’s RatPac Entertainment announced In Harm’s Way, a scripted multi-platform project inspired by the United Nations’ work around the world. Created by emerging British filmmaker David Raymond, the event-driven anthology mini-series will dramatize true stories of UN staff who risk their lives working to ensure that the organization fulfills its mandate.

Showtime Renews ‘Ray Donovan’ for Season 5
Production on the 12-episode season is set to begin next year.

‘Homeland’ Renewed For Seasons 7 & 8 By Showtime
Showtimehas closed a deal with Fox 21 TV Studios to lock its flagship drama series Homelandfor 3 more seasons, starting with the already picked up upcoming sixth season. The additional pickup will be for Seasons 7 and 8 of the terrorism drama.

The Flash and Supergirl Teaming Up for Musical Two-Parter
The CW’s Supergirl and The Flash will team up — musically — in a two-part episode airing during the second half of the 2016-17 TV season.

On the heels of Vixen, CW Seedis introducing another superhero series with an eye toward joining the CW’s DC Universe. The animated Freedom Fighters: The Ray, which comes from the uber-producer behind the CW’s DC Universe, Greg Berlanti, and one of his top lieutenants, Marc Guggenheim — will introduce the first gay superhero to lead a show.

Microsoft’s Xbox Group Acquires Live-Streaming Game Startup Beam, Taking on Twitch
Microsoft’s Xbox division has snapped up Beam Interactive, a startup whose live-streaming service lets users not only watch their favorite gamers but also play along with them. With the deal, Xbox is looking to one-up Twitch, the live game broadcaster Amazon bought in 2014 for a reported $970 million.


TBS Orders James Corden, Ben Winston ‘Late Late Show’ Bit ‘Drop the Mic’ to Series
