ABC to Adapt Wall Street Drama ‘Equity’ From Amy Pascal Into TV Show
ABC is adapting the 2016 financial thriller Equity starring Anna Gunn into a television series. ABC has handed out a script commitment plus penalty. From Regina Corrado and Amy Pascal, the drama hails from Sony TV’s TriStar Television. Set in the world of cutthroat investment banking, the drama written by Corrado centers on a Wall Street banker (played by Gunn in the film) who has to navigate a world of money and power, where women still haven’t broken the glass ceiling.

‘Totally Laime’ Comedy Based On Podcast Set At CBS From Elizabeth Laime & Tami Sagher
CBS has put in development hybrid comedy Totally Laime, inspired by Elizabeth Laime’s popular podcast, from Inside Amy Schumer scribe Tami Sagher and Thruline Entertainment. Co-written and executive produced by Laime and Sagher inspired by Laime and her husband Andy, Totally Laime focuses on a young couple who document their relationship through a podcast. CBS Television Studios is the studio.

Fox Adapting ITV Comedy ‘Benidorm’ for Possible Summer Run
Fox is teaming with Awkward showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler to adapt ITV’s successful U.K. comedy Benidorm with an eye on a summer run. The Fox take, called The Big Package, is a half-hour single-camera comedy about a blue-collar Boston family on the brink of financial disaster who takes a Mexican vacation they can’t afford and seeks escape at a third-rate resort whose bargain "big package" also attracts a handful of other boisterous and crude guests.

Jennifer Lopez Sets Futuristic Bio-Terror Drama at NBC
NBC has handed out a script order to drama C.R.I.S.P.R., which is being produced by the Shades of Blue star. C.R.I.S.P.R.— aka " clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats" — is a procedural thriller set five minutes into the future that explores the next generation of terror: DNA hacking. The show’s central character is a scientist with the CDC who is paired with an FBI agent. In the same vein of Castle, romance will blossom between the scientist and the FBI agent as they team to bring down a diabolical genius with a twisted God complex: her former boss. Anthony Cipriano will pen the script and executive produce alongside Lopez and her Universal Television-based Nuyorican Productions.

Netflix Nears Series Order for Veena Sud Racial Crime Drama ‘Seven Seconds’
Netflix is nearing a series pickup for Seven Seconds, a racial crime drama from Veena Sud. In the drama, tensions run high between African-American citizens and Caucasian cops in Jersey City, where a teenage African-American boy is critically injured by a cop. Sud would serve as showrunner on the series, which is eyeing a 10-episode order. She will exec produce with Lawrence Bender, Kevin Brown, Alex Reznik and Gavin O’Connor, the latter whom would also direct. Fox 21, where Sud is under an overall deal, will produce Seven Seconds.

Comedy Central Orders Doug Benson Pot Comedy ‘The High Court’ to Series
Loosely based on the comedian’s YouTube show Getting Doug With High, The High Court centers on Judge Doug as he rules on real small-claims court cases. Benson will hear both sides of the case before retiring to his chamber with a guest bailiff to get very stoned and deliberate on the matter. All decision rendered on The High Court are "highly binding," according to the official description.

‘American Crime Story’ Renewed for Versace-Themed Season 3
The early pickup comes ahead of season two’s ‘Katrina’ exploration.


Morena Baccarin Set for Jason Katims’ ‘Mating’ Pilot at Showtime
The ‘Homeland’ alum will guest-star in the pilot, which stars ‘SNL’ grad Taran Killam.

Gina Gershon to Guest Star on ‘Empire’ Season 3
Gina Gershon will appear in a guest role on “Empire.” Gershon will play Helene Von Wyeth, the founder of her own fashion label, who partners with Empire for her annual fashion show.

‘Chicago Fire’: [Spoiler] Exits Regular Cast
After two seasons, one ofChicago Fire‘s main characters is leaving the NBC show as a series regular. On Tuesday’s episode of Chicago Fire, firefighter Jimmy Borrelli (played by Steven R. McQueen) suffered a career-ending injury. There are no current plans for McQueen to return as a guest star.


‘Fear The Walking Dead: Passage’ Web Series Set At AMC
AMC is rolling out a new season of its Fear The Walking Dead web series. The first installment of the 16-part Fear The Walking Dead: Passage series is currently live on the AMC website. The episode will air during one commercial break within The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere episode. The second season of webisodes follows a fearsome survivor, Sierra (Kelsey Scott), who agrees to help an injured woman, Gabi (Mishel Prada), in exchange for an apocalyptic sanctuary.

The premium cable channel joins Vimeo’s global TV store after merger partner Lionsgate was the first studio to do so.


Global Screen sells sneakers series
A German miniseries about the rivalry between sports equipment companies Adidas and Puma is making its way across Europe following sales by distributor Global Screen. Rivals Forever – The Sneaker Battle (2×90’/4×45’) tells the true story of how brothers Adi and Rudi Dassler set up a sports shoe company together but grow further apart, leading them to open competing companies.

Mipcom: Participant Media To Expand TV Content Business, Drive Into Short-Form Video
Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media will expand its TV content business and move aggressively into short-form video, David Linde, Participant Media CEO, said at Cannes Mipcom trade fair, delivering a Media Mastermind keynote on Tuesday afternoon.

BBC adds cooking show to the mix
The BBC has ordered a cookery competition show in the wake of its hit The Great British Bake Off moving to Channel 4. The Big Family Cooking Challenge (working title, 12×60’), from UK prodco Voltage TV, is bound for BBC2 and will see family teams of amateurs battle it out for the chance to be crowned the nation’s best home cooks.

Walt Disney Co. decided not to pursue a bid for Twitter Inc. partly out of concern that bullying and other uncivil forms of communication on the social media site might soil the company’s wholesome family image, according to people familiar with management’s thinking.

Team Downey — the production company led by actor Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan Downey — is no longer in a first-look deal at Warner Bros. Pictures. Team Downey had been set up at the studio since its inception in 2010, but recently left in what one insider described as a mutual parting of ways.
