Breckin Meyer Single Dad Comedy In The Works At ABC
ABC is developing an untitled single dad comedy from Men At Work creator Breckin Meyer, Jamie Tarses and Scott Stuber, and ABC Studios. Created and executive produced by Meyer, the project will follow a newly single dad as he attempts to navigate fatherhood and the modern world of dating all while living in the guesthouse of his ex-wife’s new man.

ABC Developing ‘Salamander’ Drama From Midnight Radio Based On Belgian Format
ABC has boughtSalamander, a thriller drama from writer-producers Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg who work together under the Midnight Radio moniker. Based on the 2012 Belgian series, Salamander centers on a brilliant but misanthropic engineer who recruits a skeptical female FBI therapist to help him track a mysterious bank robber whose theft of 66 specific safety deposit boxes, belonging to the rich and powerful, sets in motion a series of blackmails that may be linked to a greater conspiracy.

Fox Buys ‘Visual Intelligence’ Drama Based On Amy Herman Book
Fox has put in development Amy Herman’s Visual Intelligence, based on Herman’s book, from Memphis Beat creators Liz Garcia and Josh Harto, Blindspot executive producer Mark Pellington and 20th Century Fox TV. In the book, art historian Herman, who developed and conducts “The Art of Perception” seminars, uses works of art to help experts from many fields in the art of perception. In her book, she uses art to empower them to see more perceptively, analyze more intelligently and use seemingly hidden clues to better understand any situation.

‘New Girl’ Creator on ‘Thin Ice’ With Fox Pilot Order
Fox has handed out a pilot order to single-camera comedy Thin Ice from the New Girl creator. Thin Ice centers on a woman who reclaims her dreams when she finds herself at the end of the earth — in Antarctica — surrounded by a group of brilliant misfits. Liz Meriwether, Ed Macdonald and Mark Grimmer will co-write the comedy alongside Katherine Pope, who will exec produce with the New Girl creator. Macdonald and Grimmer will co-exec produce. The project hails from 20th Century Fox Television.

Jim Parsons Developing Monarchy Comedy for Freeform
Freeform is teaming with the Emmy-winning actor to develop single-camera comedy The Monarchy Is Going to Sh*t. The comedy, developed on spec and scoring a script commitment from Freeform, centers on the Monarchy of Andova, which is thrust into disarray when the king’s newly discovered illegitimate son is named as the rightful heir to the throne, effectively seizing the title from the king’s daughter, who has prepared her entire life to become the nation’s first reigning queen. Parsons and his partner and That’s Wonderful cohort Todd Spiewak will exec produce the comedy, which will be written and co-executive produced by Amy Reed. From Warner Horizon Television.

Universal Cable Productions & Wattpad Team To Develop TV Content
Wattpad, the global multiplatform entertainment company for original stories, and Universal Cable Productions are teaming to develop original content for TV. Under the deal, UCP will produce projects — determined by custom data and insights gleaned from Wattpad’s 2.3 million monthly storytellers and research — across multiple categories including mystery/thriller, teen, science fiction, action and general fiction.
