Callie Khouri, T Bone Burnett Team On Tandem’s ‘Deep City’ Miami Music Drama
Studiocanal’s Tandem Productions is partnering with Oscar-winners Callie Khouri and T Bone Burnett on Deep City, a Miami-set drama created by From Dusk Till Dawn‘s Juan Carlos Coto. Development is currently underway on the music-driven ensemble series that’s set against the nightlife of Miami’s Midtown and emerging downtown core. Miami expert Coto, whose credits also include Nikita and 24, is writing and will showrun the series.

‘Furniss’ Drama From Kyle Killen & Macon Blair In Series Consideration At AMC
AMC is developing Furniss, a supernatural drama from Awake creator Kyle Killen and actor-filmmaker Macon Blair, Paramount TV, Anonymous Content and AMC Studios. Blair wrote the pilot script for Furniss based on an idea by Fede Alvarez, who is set to direct, and Rodo Sayagues. Killen serves as showrunner on the show, about a teenage orphan’s new life with her birth father and his family, complicated by her connection to secret supernatural events in their rural town.

AMC and BBC Reteam for John le Carre ‘The Spy Who Came in From the Cold’ Limited Series
AMC is reteaming with the BBC for a limited series adaptation of John le Carre’s 1963 novel The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy has signed on to write the limited series. Ink Factory also is on board, and Paramount Television will handle international distribution.

Amy Sedaris to Star in TruTV Scripted Comedy Series
Amy Sedaris will star in an untitled comedy that has been picked up straight-to-series by the TruTV. The series, which does not yet have a formal logline, has been described as featuring Sedaris and a mashup of hospitality, variety and talk-show formats. The comedy hails from PFFR, with Sedaris, Paul Dinello, Alyson Levy, John Lee and Vernon Chatman on board as executive producers.

PBS Boards BBC Newspaper Drama ‘Press’
has boarded BBC One’s upcoming newspaper business drama, Press, written by Mike Bartlett and produced by Deep Indigo, Lookout Point and BBC Studios, as a co-producer. PBS Masterpiece will premiere the six-part show in the U.S. Press is set in the world of newspapers. It will "explore the turbulent media landscape through the fortunes of competing broadsheet and tabloid papers and the very different and colorful characters who work for them."

SundanceTV Partners With BBC One for Abi Morgan’s ‘The Split’
SundanceTV is partnering with BBC One for new drama “The Split.” “The Split” comes from Emmy-winning writer Abi Morgan. The drama examines the fast-paced world of high-powered female divorce lawyers through the lens of three sisters — rivals Hannah and Nina, and youngest sibling Rose — whose lives are upended by the return of their father Oscar after a 30-year absence.

Louis C.K., Albert Brooks Animated Comedy Moves From FX to TBS With Series Order
TBS handed out a 10-episode series order to animated comedy The Cops. The series, developed as a pilot for FX last January, was co-created by and stars comedy heavyweights Louis C.K. and Albert Brooks, with The Office’s Greg Daniels boarding the series with its move to TBS. The project is produced by FX Productions, with Turner’s Studio T now coming on as a co-producer. The Cops follows Al (Brooks) and Lou (C.K.), two Los Angeles patrolmen trying their best to protect and serve, sometimes failing at both.

Greg Berlanti is developing a psychological thriller for Lifetime. Based on Caroline Kepnes’ bestselling novel of the same name, You is described as a 21st century love story about an obsessive yet brilliant twentysomething who uses the hyper-connectivity of today’s technology to make the woman of his dreams fall for him. Berlanti will write the adaptation with Sera Gamble, and the two will exec produce with Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment will produce in association with Warner Horizon Television.

“Hidden Figures” screenwriter Allison Schroeder has sold a scripted drama to E! about an aspiring songwriter, which she is producing with music manager Scooter Braun. “Inspiration” is a music-themed series with a few scenes that will have musical break-out-into-song elements.

Dakota Fanning to Star in TNT Drama Series ‘The Alienist’
The Cary Fukunaga-produced series is set to premiere in late 2017. Together with characters being played by previously cast Daniel Bruhl and Luke Evans, she will investigate a series of brutal murders in New York during the Gilded Age. Production is set to begin in Budapest, Hungary, shortly, with plans for the series to premiere later this year.

Greg Garcia’s TBS Comedy ‘The Guest Book’ Sets Cast
TBS’ The Guest Book has filled out its cast. The new 10-episode comedy series from Greg Garcia has added Kellie Martin, Charlie Robinson, Aloma Wright, Carly Jibson, Lou Wilson, Garret Dillahunt, Laura Bell Bundy and Eddie Steeples. The anthology-style show, written by Garcia and executive produced by him and Alix Jaffe, will premiere in August.


Super Bowl LI: Fox’s Free Live Stream To Include Local Ads In Industry First
This isn’t the first time the Super Bowl will be streamed online live for free, but it is a first for local ad insertions to be included in the stream. Fox Sports is teaming with 170 Fox affiliates for the insertion of local digital ads to play during the free live stream of Super Bowl LI on Fox Sports Go.

He wrote one of Iger’s favorite books, “The Wright Brothers.” According to promotional literature, Iger’s book is on leadership and management and “explores the ideas, values and growth strategies he has developed in his 11 years as CEO of Disney, the world’s largest media company.”
