‘Jawbreaker’ TV Series in the Works at E!
has put into development a reboot of the 1999 movie Jawbreaker. The E! take is described a wild reimagining of the teen cult classic set in the fame-obsessed world of Beverly Hills. The adaptation follows a new clique whose world is rocked by an accidental murder at a bachelorette party. Feature film writer-director Darren Stein is on board to pen the script for the drama. The project hails from Sony Pictures Television, whose film sibling Tristar Pictures distributed the original.

John Curran In Talks To Direct Lou Pearlman TV Series
John Curran
is now in talks to develop and direct the TV series planned about Lou Pearlman, the manager/producer of NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys who was also running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of about $300M dollars. Toby Jones is attached to star in the series. The project comes from Magnet Management and Condé Nast, and will be produced by Jonathan Koa, Jon Kanak, Mitch Solomon and Daniel Pancotto. With Curran and Jones in place, the producers are planning to take the limited series to market soon.

James Burrows To Direct NBC’s ‘Relatively Happy’ Pilot; Randall Einhorn To Helm CBS’ ‘Me, Myself & I’Sitcom veteran James Burrows is set to direct and executive produce NBC’s multi-camera comedy pilot Relatively Happy (previously Happy Peppers), from Will & Grace creator Max Mutchnick and Friends alum Jeff Astrof. Randall Einhorn has been tapped to direct and executive produce Dan Kopelman’s CBS single-camera comedy pilot Me, Myself and I, from Warner Bros. TV.

Variety: A Look at Pilot Strategies for ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and the CWBroadcasters seem to be playing it safe when it comes to auspices — the majority of projects hail from A-list producers and writers — but the nets are taking bigger swings when it comes to ideas, as only a handful of reboots and spinoffs are among the series in contention for 2017-2018. The networks also appear to be taking note of the country’s divisive climate with a slew of military-centric pilots.

E! Renews ‘The Royals’ for Season 4
“The Royals”
