Colin Farrell To Star In Oliver North Iran-Contra Limited Series In Works At AmazonAmazon is developing a limited drama series about Oliver North and the Iran-Contra affair, with Colin Farrellattached to star as North. Written by Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, the Untitled Oliver North Project follows the Iran-Contra affair through the eyes of a man at the center of it all – Oliver North. The series will be executive produced by Red Hour’s Ben Stiller and Nicky Weinstock. Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster) is set to direct.

Bad Robot To Produce Period Dramedy Series Based On RuPaul’s LifeJ.J. AbramsBad Robot has teamed with RuPaul and reality production company World of Wonder for a half-hour dramedy series project, a fictionalized version of RuPaul’s rise from club kid to drag queen, gay icon, and global star. Written by Power executive producer Gary Lennon, the drama is set in New York City during the Reagan era 1980s. Warner Bros TV, where Bad Robot is based, is the studio.

Netflix Eyeing BBC Supernatural Thriller ‘Requiem’; Emerging Brit Helmer Mahalia Belo To Direct
is looking to board BBC psychological thriller Requiemwith up-and-coming Brit helmer Mahalia Belo set to direct. The 6×60 series focusses on the story of a young woman, who in the wake of her mother’s death, sets out to learn the truth about herself, even to the point of unravelling her own identity. It’s a subtle tale of the supernatural that plays on uncertainty, mystery and ambiguity. Belo will direct all six episodes.

is developing a new animated comedy for Amazon Studios called Amberville. Created by Chris McCoy and Sausage Party’s Conrad Vernon, the show is based on Tim Davys’ Mollisan Town book series. Amberville is a darkly comedic animated crime show set in a city populated by living, breathing stuffed animals. The story follows a reformed Teddy Bear who is pulled back in to the criminal underworld when his former boss enlists him for an impossible new job.

Riots ‘Let It Fall’ Gets Theatrical Release, Marking An ABC News FirstJohn Ridley‘s Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992 — the feature documentary that looks at the years and events leading up to the April 1992 riots after the Rodney King verdict — is getting a theatrical release April 21 on both coasts. This film marks ABC News first theatrical production and release. Let It Fall was produced in partnership with ABC News’ Lincoln Square Productions. A broadcast version of the documentary will air April 28 (9-11 PM) on ABC.

Rob Lowe (and Sons) to Play Detective in A&E Reality Show

has now boarded his own unscripted vehicle. A&E has given a nine-episode series order to The Lowe Files, a docuseries that will follow Lowe and his two sons, Matthew and John Owen, around the country in search of various unsolved mysteries and folklore. Each episode will find the trio diving into a different story, blending the innate humor of the scenario with actual scientific investigations and expert interviews. Critical Content is producing The Lowe Files, with Tom Forman, Jon Beyer, Brad Bishop, Douglas McCallie, Amy Savitsky and Devon Hammonds joining Lowe and Frontain Bryant as executive producers.

Instead he’s reacting to a virtual ball that is tracked to correspond to the real-world object.


Shonda Rhimes Gives Endowment to Los Angeles’ IAMA Theater CompanyLos Angeles’ IAMA Theater Company is getting an endowment from Shonda Rhimes. The “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” creator will be the company’s first Patron of the Arts, providing the nonprofit ensemble with funding. Part of the Rhimes endowment will go toward the new Rhimes Unsung Voices Playwrighting Commission, which will give budding playwrights the chance to develop new plays with IAMA.

The company just announced a new Apple-made app called Clips, which borrows features from Snapchat, Instagram, Vine, Prisma, iMovie, and Qwiki, and puts them all into a video-making mobile app that’s completely separate from Apple’s core camera app on iPhone and iPad.

has refreshed its iPad lineup, dropping the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 and replacing it with a device simply called the iPad. The specs of the tablet remain largely the same as that of the Air 2, but with the old A8X chip replaced with the 64-bit A9. The price of the iPad has also been dropped in comparison to its predecessor, with a 32GB Wi-Fi model starting at $329, and 32GB Wi-Fi and Cellular model going for $459. The new iPad appeared on Apple’s store this morning, along with a couple other minor updates. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are now available in a red aluminum finish, and the iPhone SE now has storage options of 32GB and 128GB — double its previous specs.
