‘Tremors’ Reboot Starring Kevin Bacon Lands Syfy Pilot Order
has handed out a pilot order for a TV adaptation of the 1990 film starring Kevin Bacon. The drama, which is produced by Universal Cable Productions, counts Jason Blum and showrunner Andrew Miller among its creative team. In addition to starring, Bacon will also executive produce alongside David Schiff (Southpaw) and Blumhouse Television. Miller will pen the script for the revival, which picks up 25 years after the events of the film and finds Valentine McKee (Bacon) attempting to save the town again — but this time, also battling age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.

‘Doomsday’: Sony TV Eyes Series Order For Ex-ABC Pilot, Extends Cast OptionsIt looks like thriller drama pilot Doomsday, from producer Carol Mendelsohn and Sony Pictures TV, will go to series after all. Sony TV is exploring a series order for the project, originally set up at ABC this past development season where it did not go beyond the pilot stage. While pickup conversations are going on, Sony TV has moved to extend the options on the cast of Doomsday, which were set to expire June 30. …Sony TV is planning to produce Doomsday for global distribution based on oversees interest in the concept and auspices. The studio would open a writers room and fund the production of the series, likely in the 13-episode range, before taking it out to domestic and international buyers.

Written by Berlanti and Gamble based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel, You is described as a 21st century love story that asks, "What would you do for love?"

Vimeo Scraps Plans For SVOD ServiceVimeo, which had been gearing up to launch a subscription VOD service, will no longer proceed with the plans. The news comes just three months after Vimeo hired Alana Mayo, previously VP Production at Paramount Pictures, as VP and head of original development. She was joined by Kesila Childers as director of content development; and Kelly Miller as director of content acquisitions. Vimeo had been buying and developing full-length scripted series projects, guiding them toward production.


Ashton Kutcher To EP Two Unscripted Series For Chicken Soup For The SoulAshton Kutcher has signed on as executive producer for two new unscripted series for Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. The deal expands Kutcher’s relationship with the company and his, his digital media company that specializes in positive journalism and social change. The two series that are part of today’s agreement will focus on the positive themes drawn from and Chicken Soup for the Soul. These series are slated for distribution primarily on broadcast and cable, as well as online.

MTV to Debut Comedy Game Show ‘SafeWord’ From ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Producers
is set to launch a new comedy game show called “SafeWord.” From the producers of “Lip Sync Battle” and hosted by Terrence J, the series is based off the U.K. format. In each episode, the celebrity guests will partner with superstar comedians to help them play a series of games in front a live audience.

has given the green light to a third season of Eric & Jessie, which follows the lives of country singer/songwriter Jessie James Decker and her professional wide receiver husband Eric Decker.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Becomes a Harder Sell for AdvertisersAt least several advertisers that intended to air commercials in "Bachelor in Paradise" this season will not appear, according to several people familiar with the situation. "We decided not to advertise in it this summer after all the controversy," a spokeswoman for an advertiser in the show last season said via email. "We’ve done it in the past but feel that it doesn’t meet our filters as a family-friendly brand at current state."

UK rights outside Wales remain available.Keeping Faith comes from Vox Pictures, and stars Eve Myles (Victoria) as a woman who discovers her husband is living a double life.

Digiday: Facebook video ad viewability rates are as low as 20 percent, agencies sayAfter fessing up to a string of measurement errors over the past six months, the social media company has bowed to pressure from ad buyers and started letting third-party auditors check its numbers. Some agencies started using the new auditing capabilities a few months ago and have been stunned to see viewability rates on Facebook video campaigns as low as 20 percent, going up to 30 percent, according to interviews with nine agency execs. That’s way below the average viewability rate for video ads on sites, which is approximately 50 percent.
