Ryan Seacrest Inks Overall Deal With ABC Studios…The scripted TV pact extends his relationship with Disney following ‘American Idol’ and ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan.’

‘Walking Dead’ Creator Moves From AMC to Amazon With Big Overall Deal…Under the two-year pact, Robert Kirkman and his Skybound Entertainment will develop genre projects for the retail giant and streamer.

Jenji Kohan Drama ‘American Princess’ Goes Straight to Series at Lifetime‘Orange Is the New Black’s’ Jamie Denbo created the drama, which follows a socialite who leaves to join a Renaissance faire.

Marta Kauffman Boards ‘The Gilded Razor’ TV Adaptation…Nine months after optioning The Gilded Razor for TV, the project has found a showrunner. Marta Kauffman has signed on to develop the Sam Lansky memoir via her Okay Goodnight Productions banner alongside Robbie Tollin and Hannah K.S. Canter. The TV take will be titled The Walk Out of Ruin, with the hourlong scripted drama poised to revolve around a group of troubled teens who are forcibly removed from their homes and taken to a wilderness therapy program for at-risk youth. …Additionally, Orange Dragon has now put its second scripted project in development — Quantum Love, based on the life of Dr. Laura Berman, a New York Times best-selling author, love coach and sex therapist.

NBC Rebooting ‘Munsters’Seth Meyers is attached to exec produce the update, which hails from ‘Odd Mom Out’ star Jill Kargman.

HBO Orders Specials Based on ‘2 Dope Queens’ Podcast…The four hourlong specials from Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson will debut in 2018. 2 Dope Queens is a weekly stand-up and storytelling podcast in which the comedic duo discuss sex, romance, race, hair, New York and Billy Joel with their friends and favorite comedians. The two will exec produce the specials with Chenoa Estrada.

‘Girls’ Grad Alex Karpovsky to Star in Comedy Central’s ‘Kill the Orange Face Bear’‘Blue Mountain State’ co-creator Chris Romano will serve as showrunner on the project, which is in development at the Viacom-owned cable network. The project revolves around a man (Alex Karpovsky) whose girlfriend is eaten alive by a bear in front of him. He then sets out to kill said bear.

RuPaul TV Dramedy From J.J. Abrams Lands at Hulu‘Queen,’ which is in development at the streamer, is a fictionalized version of RuPaul’s life. Gary Lennon will pen the script and executive produce alongside RuPaul, Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions topper Ben Stephenson as well as World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey, Tom Campbell and Randy Barbato.

Warren Littlefield Developing ‘Space’ at FXWarren Littlefield is developing a series titled Space at FX. The project, which landed a script development deal at the cabler, "examines astronauts who have an incredible experience on the Moon, then come back to Earth and everything falls apart." Jim Cummings will write, star and executive produce the series with PJ McCabe.

HBO Developing Sneaker Store Comedy Produced By LeBron James & SpringHillHBO has put in development an untitled half-hour single-camera comedy about the sneaker culture phenomenon, from NBA star LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Springhill Entertainment. It hails from Warner Bros. TV. Written by Shawn Wines and Lemon Andersen, the untitled Sneaker Store Project centers on two best friends and their wild employees at an up-and-coming sneaker shop outside L.A., where they take on the insane and obsessive world of sneaker culture.

‘Nashville’ Creator Callie Khouri Working On New Music SeriesNashville creator Callie Khouri is heading to a new music city – Miami – for her next project. Speaking on the CMT #Nashchat online show on Facebook, Khouri said she was “working on a show that takes place in Miami.”

Netflix Greenlights Drama Series From ‘Fauda’ Creators, Sets 2nd Project From Duo For DevelopmentLior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, whose acclaimed Israeli political thriller series Fauda streams on Netflix, are expanding their relationship with the Internet network in a big way with two English-language drama projects. The first, an untitled terrorism drama, has received a straight-to-series order with Raz also attached to star. The second, a political espionage thriller titled Hit and Run, is currently in development at the internet TV network.

CBS Developing Nuclear Submarine Drama From Alex Kurtzman & David WilcoxCBS has put in development Trident, a submarine drama from writer David Wilcox and Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout. Written by Wilcox, Trident centers on a mysterious death aboard an American nuclear submarine that tests the mettle of the crew, the White House, the Pentagon and the CIA and causes a crisis that threatens to expose a conspiracy that could trigger World War III.

‘Snowfall’ Renewed for Season 2 at FX…The John Singleton drama is averaging 5 million total viewers per episode, including linear and VOD.

‘Queen of the South’ Renewed for Season 3 at USA Network…The Alice Braga drama will be back in 2018.

‘GLOW’: Netflix Renews Women’s Wrestling Comedy For Season 2Netflix has renewed new 1980s wrestling comedy GLOW for a 10-episode second season.


‘Will & Grace’ Snags ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ Star Ben Platt for Guest Role…The Tony winner will appear on the Oct. 5 episode of the NBC revival.

‘Crash And Burn’ Sets Alex Fitzalan, Others For Adaptation Of Coming-Of-Age Drama At Hulu…The cast for the Hulu pilot Crash and Burnfrom Aaron Zelman has been set. The coming-of-age dramatic thriller will star Alex Fitzalan, Sebastian Chacon, Alex Wolff and Camila Perez. Based on the bestselling book by Michael Hassan, the story follows three troubled suburban boys through an averted school shooting in the mid-1990s.

SBS orders dramedy for web…Australian online platform SBS On Demand has ordered a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama about two 20-something best friends who reinvent themselves after suffering chronic illnesses. Homecoming Queens (7×8’) comes from an all-female team, including writers and creators Chloë Reeson and Michelle Law, with the latter also playing one of the leads in the show.


NYT: With Disney’s Move to Streaming, a New Era Begins…Plans announced by the world’s largest media company to start two Netflix-style services instantly reverberated through the entertainment industry.


Sony Pictures TV Studios Elevates Lauren Stein To Head Of Drama DevelopmentSony Pictures TV Studios continues to promote within as it repopulates its top executive ranks. The studio’s SVP drama development Lauren Stein has been upped to EVP and head of drama development. She will succeed former co-heads of drama development Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter, who were recently elevated to Co-Presidents of Sony Pictures Television Studios.


AdWeek: Why Brands and Agencies Are Preparing for the Era of 6-Second Ads…The format has built up buzz since Google threw its stake in the ground when the best examples of its six-second hackathon were highlighted at Sundance in January. Then in June, Fox announced it was on board with six-second video ads. And, at the end of last month, Facebook revealed it was going to work on its six-second ad game during its second-quarter earnings call. Now, brands and agencies are starting to state their motives for getting out in front of the movement.
